Le lingue del diritto in India
DOMENICO FRANCAVILLA – CDCT Working Paper 12-2012/CTL5
Abstract: The paper analizes the problem of the language of the law in India by considering the constitutional aspects, the prevalence of the English language and the emergence of a Hindi legal language. Through this analysis, the paper aims at highlighting that the usual identification of Indian law and English language hides a picture that is actually more complex, where an Indian legal multilingualism is becoming important. This multilingualism presents some specific features that are useful for a comparison with legal multilingualism in Europe.
